Chirwa v Registrar-General 1993 (1) ZLR 1 (H)
Applicant had obtained an order declaring him to be a citizen of Zimbabwe. The respondent refused to release his passport to the applicant. The applicant sought an order requiring his passport to be delivered to him. The respondent opposed the application on the ground that the passport was issued at the will of the State and could be withdrawn or withheld.
Held that in order to exercise the constitutional right to travel (ss9 & 22), the applicant needed his passport and the State had no right or power to withhold the passport of a citizen.
